Story 15 by Richard Stubbs — September 21, 2026
With the sun shining warmly over Ashford, Tyler and Jordyn decided their backyard required a proper, official expedition — complete with a magnifying glass, a notebook, and a small basket for fallen leaves.
Tyler served as chief navigator, while Jordyn took charge of recording every discovery in her notebook.
Together, they set off across the lawn accompanied by their usual entourage of curious critters — transforming an ordinary backyard into an untamed wilderness.
Every great expedition needs a crew. Barnaby the lop-eared rabbit led the way, hopping enthusiastically toward the strawberry patch.
The two critters trailed closely behind, pretending they were fierce jungle tigers stalking through tall grass.
The lop-eared rabbit served as the expedition's fearless guide, leading the team deeper into the wild backyard.
With the team assembled, the backyard officially transformed into an untamed, uncharted wilderness ready to be explored.
"Look! A ladybug on the sunflower stem!"
Jordyn exclaimed, kneeling down to inspect the tiny red bug with black spots through her magnifying glass. Every great safari has its first great find — and this was theirs.

At that exact moment, their tablet buzzed loudly from the garden bench. It was Granddad Richard calling from Waterfall Kennels in Fourways, eager to catch up on the weekend's events.
Tyler snatched up the tablet and propped it against a flowerpot, bringing Granddad right into the heart of the expedition.
"Granddad! We're on a safari! Barnaby is our guide, and Jack and Joey are the scary predators!"
— Tyler, chief navigator and field reporter
Granddad Richard laughed heartily, his face beaming through the screen as he received the full expedition briefing from his young adventurers.
"Well, make sure your fierce predators don't run away from any more butterflies, Tyler!"
— Granddad Richard, laughing heartily from Waterfall Kennels
Granddad's gentle teasing hinted at past adventures where the so-called "fierce predators" had perhaps not lived up to their fearsome reputations — much to everyone's amusement.
"Everything is peaceful, Granddad."
Jordyn smiled and waved at the screen, reassuring Granddad that the expedition was going smoothly — no dangerous wildlife incidents to report.
A sunny backyard safari in Ashford, led by Barnaby and documented by Jordyn and Tyler.
A heartwarming video call with Granddad Richard, joining in from Waterfall Kennels in Fourways.
"We're ready for story number sixteen whenever you are!" — Jordyn, signing off from the field.
