Award-Winning Aircraft

"The KR 030 Topaz was voted to be the Best of the Best! What an awesome plane. Our congratulations to Richard Stubbs. As an association we hereby and without reservation recommend The KR 030 Topaz." — MISASA, March 2012

MISASA — the Microlight and Light Sport Aeroplane Association of South Africa, representing some 1,600 pilots — convened online and in person on 4 February 2012, debating and voting across 20 categories to award the Topaz the overall "Best of the Best" aircraft in South Africa.

Built Different — Not a Clone

The JK-05 and Topaz are not cheerfully painted clones of someone else's design. You will not find fabric-covered surfaces on either model, and neither aircraft is compromised by questionable slow-speed handling or marginal STOL performance.

Both models reward the individual who appreciates fine handling and balanced controls — a direct result of their glider heritage and full composite structure.

120cm Wide Cockpit

Unusually Spacious

The 120cm wide cockpit on both models can comfortably accommodate very large men — unusual in many European designs.

Fully Customizable Panel

The comprehensive standard analog instrument panel is equipped with far more than basic instrumentation and can be fully customized to individual specifications using any number of different panel layouts and avionic options.

Landing Gear & Brakes

Both aircraft feature a very strong composite sprung landing gear with hydraulic disc brakes activated via a single brake lever with parking lock convenience, attached to a center control stick. This system provides confident ground handling in all conditions.

Composite Construction Advantage

Vinyl-Ester Resins

Both aircraft are manufactured from vinyl-ester resins and composite parabeam, offering far better thermal resistance than conventionally used epoxy resins.

No Fabric Surfaces

Unlike many competitors, neither model uses fabric-covered surfaces to offset weight — maintaining structural integrity and longevity.

Glider Heritage

This glider-derived wing design delivers spectacular climb rates, a phenomenal glide ratio, and superb comfort across the full flight envelope.

High-Altitude Performance

At MTOW, both the JK-05 and Topaz achieve what few others can at high altitude. Both models easily meet — and often exceed — their individual performance specifications, even in demanding high-altitude conditions. Push-button operated flap and trim controls make both aircraft easy and intuitive to fly.

KR-040 Dominator

The new generation starts here.

New category. Not another plane..

The KR-040 Dominator is not simply a development of earlier models. It is a completely new machine designed from a blank sheet, combining over 30 years of experience of the Polish brand Ekolot with the latest aviation technologies..

Our goal was simple: to create a two-seat cruiser in the up to 600 kg category (UL-2) that retains the economics of microlight aviation whilst offering the performance, character and equipment known from more expensive, advanced General Aviation (GA) designs.

A good aircraft shouldn't force you to fight the controls. It should respond naturally, predictably and exactly as you expect.

Thanks to its refined aerodynamics and control harmony, the Dominator forgives mistakes at low speeds while maintaining exceptional dynamics and stability during high-speed flight. It is a modern aircraft, yet completely intuitive for the pilot. Fast, yet easy to handle.

Engine: Rotax 915 iS - A modern 140 KM engine guarantees excellent performance and a high cruising speed and a range of 1,500 km.

Structural layout: Low-wing, composite - A composite structure made of carbon and glass fibres, with a side-by-side cabin — 2 seats side by side.

Chassis: Fully retractable - Electrically or hydraulically controlled — the main difference compared to older Ekolot models.
